Aton Forest Partners with Norfolk Conservation Organizations on The 2024 Norfolk Earth Forum Honoring Ecologist Rachel Carson

April 2024. Local Norfolk partners Collaborate to Honor Ecologist Rachel Carson and Celebrate Earth Day 2024

Convened by the Green Team of the Church of Christ Congregational Norfolk, five local conservation organizations partnered to host a weekend Earth Day 2024 Celebration in Norfolk, CT. The organizations were Aton Forest, Great Mountain Forest, Norfolk Land Trust, and the Norfolk Conservation Commission, supported by sponsors, the Norfolk Hub ad the Norfolk Library, joined forces for a Nature-themed weekend with four events.

The highlight of the weekend was the play “A Sense of Wonder” written and performed at the Botelle School by Kauilani Lee.

On the first day, Aton Forest hosted a lecture on Carson. Aton Forest’s founder, strongly influenced Rachel Carson in her writing of Chapter 6 of the classic book Silent Spring.

Aton Forest is a non-profit land protection organization and ecological field station, created for preservation of Natural Area Preserves (semi-managed and wild lands), operated for ecological and forest succession research in northwest Connecticut and surrounding bioregion.
