The Aton Forest Ecological Research Station in Norfolk, CT invites you to view a total lunar eclipse Astronomer Matthew Johnson, board member of Aton and author of the article The Celestial Sphere column in Norfolk Now, will guide and inspire us.
A lunar eclipse occurs in stages. In Norfolk, it will begin with the Moon entering into penumbral eclipse at 11:57 pm (slightly red), transitioning into the deeper umbral total eclipse phase lasting from 2:26 AM (deep red) to 3:31 am at which time the Moon leaves the umbral phase again entering into another penumbral phase (light red) which lasts to 6:00 am at which time the Total Lunar eclipse event has ended.
Considerations
Event will be cancelled if very cloudy, overcast, dangerous high winds or inclement weather.
Aton Forest is a non-profit land protection organization and ecological field station, created for preservation of Natural Area Preserves (semi-managed and wild lands) and operated for ecological and forest succession research in northwest Connecticut and surrounding bioregion.
